작품 Triad_Building_Unwrapped 는 실제 존재하는 건축(Triad)의 외관을 자연적 인터랙션의 요소를 이용하여 새롭게 패턴화 시키는 작업이다. 즉, 도시공간을 떠돌아다니는 바람과 공기, 빛, 시간 등의 무형의 자연 요소들이 실제 건물에 끼치는 변화를 인터랙션의 매개체로 삼은 작품이라 할 수 있다. 전시장 바닥엔 바람이 불고 해가 바뀌는 자연의 섭리를 컨셉으로 구성한 인공의 기계장치가 놓여 있다. 그리고 그 기계장치 위에는 전시장 건물의 외벽을 그대로 컴퓨터 3D로 모델링한 조각들이 설치 되 있다. 시간차를 두고 발생하는 바람개비 바람과 나무로 만든 대형 프로펠러, 그리고 회전하는 조명은 바로 외부의 바람과 시간을 컨셉화 시킨 장치들이다. 컴퓨터는 이런 변화요소들을 모두 모아 건축의 외벽을 재구성하여 계속 변화하고 쌓여져 가는 이미지를 만든다. 이것은 마치 바람에 의해 생성되고 소멸되는 자연의 원리를 닮아 있다. 기계장치 위에 모델링된 조각들은 이미지를 반사하여 서로를 복제한다. 웹카메라는 복제되고 반사된 조각들을 컴퓨터로 전송시켜 계속해서 변화하는 패턴 이미지를 만들어 내는 소스를 제공한다. 설치 작품의 의미로는 건물 바깥의 외부를 복제해 그것들을 회전하고 반복되는 장치를 이용해 실내 공간으로 옮겨 놓은 것이라 할 수 있다. 이 과정에서 이루어지는 추상화 과정, 컨셉화 과정은 건물의 모양에 따라 각각 다르다.
“Triad_Building_Unwrapped” is a work featuring an interaction between the triad of an architectural structure and natural elements. The medium of this interaction in the work is, so to speak, the changes a real building goes through by such invisible natural elements as wind, air, light, and time. On the floor of a gallery room is a man-made device whose concept is provision of nature, including seasonal changes and wind blowing. Installed over this device is a sculpture of the outer wall of the gallery building executed by the computer 3D modeling technique. The wind generated by a vane, the enormous wooden propeller, and the rotating lighting are all apparatuses conceived based on the conception of wind and light. These elements are used to reconstruct an outer wall of the gallery building and to create a gradually accumulated, ever-changing image. That image seems to reflect the law of destruction and renewal by the wind. The sculptures over the device reflect the image and copy themselves. The reproduced, reflected sculptures by the web camera are transmitted to the computer, providing the source of constantly changing images. By the use of a revolving device, the outer wall of the building moves to the indoor space. The courses of abstractization and conceptualization occurred in this process depend on each look of buildings.
